About

Mr Chan Yew Wooi

Mr Chan Yew Wooi served the Ministry of Education (MOE) with distinction in schools and in MOE HQ. In his 35 years as an educator, he led two secondary schools as a principal. He was also the Director of the Professional Development Branch in the Academy of Singapore Teachers from 2013- 2018. His final MOE appointment as Senior Consultant with the Centre for Educational Leadership at MOE allowed him to make a difference to the leadership growth of School Leaders and Middle Managers working in public schools in Singapore.

An Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation, Mr Chan has deep interest in facilitating personal transformation through coaching. In his various leadership roles with MOE, Mr Chan also facilitated workshops relating to themes like culture building, personal mastery, transitioning to different roles, socio-emotional skill development and vertical growth. A coach practitioner in the Soundwaves Model, Mr Chan believes that leaders’ conversational competencies matter greatly. With enhanced awareness and support, leaders learn how they can skilfully adapt their verbal strategies to meet the needs of their teams. In turn, these leaders foster high commitment, deep fulfillment, and sustained improvements in team outcomes.

A learner, leader and ultimately, a teacher at heart, Mr Chan seeks to create an environment that optimizes learning engagement and outcomes in his role as a facilitator of adult learning and leadership development.
