Leading and Relating with Others like a Coach

Engagement, Energy and Empowerment. We all want to experience these positive feelings when we are at work. As a leader, we could nurture these qualities in the teams we lead through a coaching style of leadership.

This workshop empowers participants to play their people developer role even more effectively by activating their coaching mindset and skillsets. When we coach, we believe that others are  way more creative and resourceful than they give themselves credit for. When we coach, we listen to understand; and we prefer to ask more than we tell or advise.

Growing our own coaching competencies and habits as leaders help us to unleash the power of insight, intrinsic motivation and initiative in our colleagues.  It also frees us from the notion that as leaders we must know-it-all and solve-it-all. When our team grows in confidence and competence, we come to navigate our increasingly complex and uncertain environment with all minds, all hearts and all hands on deck.

Participants will examine some concerns and misconceptions about coaching. We will realise that coaching does not have to take a very long time; it can be done effectively in 10 minutes or less. Coaching also need not be an additional thing we do; it can be integrated into how we communicate and interact with others. Moreover, coaching is not rigid; leaders can flexibly customise their coaching moves to better meet the needs of their team members.

Target Audience: All leaders and aspiring leaders are invited to join this workshop.
