Emilie Lam, PhD, is a speech and language therapist with over 20 years of clinical and research experience across Singaporean and Australian settings. As a Research Fellow at the Centre for Holistic Initiatives for Learning and Development (CHILD), NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, she investigates responsive caregiving, pedagogical strategies for social-emotional/executive function development in children, and evidence-based interventions for reading/auditory processing disorders. Her work emphasises intervention effectiveness, how executive function mediates intervention outcomes, and the translation of evidence-based practices into the real-world setting, with findings published in international journals and a co-authored book chapter on Singapore English.A dedicated educator, Dr Lam lectures on special education and speech-language pathology at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and the National University of Singapore (NUS) in postgraduate and undergraduate programs. She designs workshops for teachers and caregivers, translating research into practical strategies for classrooms and homes. Her clinical expertise spans lifespan disorders (from neonates to adults), multidisciplinary intervention models, and diverse service delivery systems, including early intervention centres, schools, and hospitals.
Mr Simon Reynolds is a Senior Consultant at Principals Academy with expertise in curriculum development and implementation, pedagogy and assessment and special education. He was a deputy director at the Curriculum Planning and Development Division of the Ministry of Education for 11 years working on curriculum development and effective curriculum implementation through appropriate pedagogy and assessment. Currently, he consults on curriculum design, assessment, and evaluation for Special Education Schools, conducts teacher and parent training for mainstream schools and is as a part-time lecturer and practicum supervisor at the National Institute of Education. He also works on behavioural management and intervention. When time permits, he occasionally returns to the classroom as a relief teacher to keep connected to classroom realities. Mr Reynolds holds Masters Degrees in English Studies and Autism Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Behavioral Analysis.
