Stories Teachers Tell

Principals Academy supported the 'Stories Teachers Tell' (a category for teachers) story-writing competition organised by the Academy of Principals (Singapore) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The competition encouraged teachers to use their imagination to write stories based on themes such as local festivals and traditions, national heroes, local myths and legends and stories of everyday life in Singapore. The objective is to excite and engage children so that they can understand and be proud of their culture, history, and folklore. The 'Stories Teachers Tell’ contest was launched by Mr Heng Swee Keat, then the Minister for Education (MOE) on 2 February 2012 at Greenridge Primary School.

Due to the success of the first contest, a second story-writing competition was launch on 2 April 2012 for teachers, students and members of the public to write and contribute their stories. The best entries were published by MOE as stories for our teachers to use in the classroom, that is, stories for teachers to tell.
