Overview
This part 1 of the workshop will give an overview of the clinical diagnostic criteria for autism,attention deficit and hyper-activity disorder (ADHD), attention deficit disorder(ADD), and dyslexia, and what this means psychologically and affectively for the student as an individual. The social, emotional and learning challenges that students with disabilities face will be explored and how schools can develop understanding, support and full inclusion.

Part Two: Pedagogical and Behavioural Strategies for Supporting students with Special Educational needs
This part 2 of the workshop will focus on the strategies for supporting and enabling students with learning disabilities at the institutional, teacher, peer, and communal levels.The strategies and interventions will extend beyond the academic to include behavioural and social dimensions, partnering parents and caregivers, communal integration and transition beyond school.

Mr Simon Reynolds is a senior education consultant at Principals Academy with expertise in curriculum development and implementation, pedagogy and assessment and special education. He was a deputy director at the Curriculum Planning and Development Division of the Ministry of Education for 11 years working on curriculum development and effective curriculum implementation through appropriate pedagogy and assessment. Currently, he consults on curriculum design, assessment, and evaluation for Special Education Schools, conducts teacher and parent training for mainstream schools and is as a part-time lecturer and practicum supervisor at the National Institute of Education. He also works on behavioural management and intervention. When time permits, he occasionally returns to the classroom as a relief teacher to keep connected to classroom realities. Mr Reynolds holds Masters Degrees in English Studies and Autism Studies and A Graduate Certificate in Behavioral Analysis.
