ChatGPT for Educators: Using it to your Advantage

This course is designed to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to use ChatGPT in the classroom.

Throughout the course, teachers will learn about the potential of Generative AI such as ChatGPT, and how it can be used to automate administrative tasks, and personalise learning experiences. Teachers will learn how to apply AI-powered solutions in a range of practical exercises, to explore how they can use this tool in their classroom. The course will also explore the benefits and limitations of ChatGPT, providing guidance on responsible use, and equipping teachers with the tools to navigate ethical dilemmas in the use of AI.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the 2-day course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the benefits and limitations of ChatGPT
  • Understand the basics of ChatGPT and how it can be used in the classroom
  • Leverage ChatGPT in areas such as training materials, curriculum development and assessment
  • Personalise ChatGPT using different criteria such as different age groups, subject matter, scenarios and case studies
  • Understand ethical considerations and responsible use of generative AI

Assessment

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Completion issued by SMU Academy.

PREREQUISITES

Participants should preferably have a tertiary education or a diploma with at least three years of relevant teaching experience.

Celine's expertise extends to social, emotional, and cognitive aspects of learning, and she coaches senior executives in multinational firms. Leveraging her background in education, music, and change management, she designs tailored curricula for educators, integrating advanced AI tools like ChatGPT. Her strategic insights have propelled the launch of SI's AI Data Protection Officer (DPO) Assistant toolkit, advancing the integration of AI in crucial areas of education and data protection.
