By the end of the Teaching & Learning Institute, you will:

  • Understand the principles and practical strategies of Universal Design for Learning
  • Learn the Four Steps to making learning meaningful, relevant, and engaging
  • Discover effective assessment tools to drive instruction and meet the needs of learners
  • Gain easy-to-use methods to differentiate within your regular classroom instruction
  • Explore ways to integrate STEM in your instruction through the Design Process and the 5 E instructional model
  • Utilize time to network, share ideas, and plan for future instruction

About the Trainers:

Dr Lori Elliott is an enthusiastic and highly-skilled educator. She has served as a classroom teacher, technology integration specialist, and literacy coordinator. Dr Elliott is the author of several books, including her most recent, Project Based Learning Anywhere. Dr Elliott collaborates with educators as an instructional coach, presenter, and educational consultant. She is an adjunct instructor at Missouri State University and creates educational resources. She is passionate about literacy, technology integration, authentic learning, and project-based learning.

Ms Melissa Dickson is passionate about helping teachers meet the diverse needs of today’s classrooms. As an educational consultant she has provided professional development globally on literacy strategies, best practices for instruction, differentiation, and the formative assessment process at all grade levels. In addition to her trainings around the world, she has worked extensively with schools conducting formative assessment walk-throughs and helping administrators and leadership teams set school-wide goals for improvement, as well as, providing individual coaching for teachers.
